Tractor Accident Kills AU Student

AUBURN, Ala. (WXTX) - A tractor accident claims the life of a 23-year old Auburn student, working at Moore's Mill Golf Course.

Auburn Assistant Police Chief Tommy Dawson, is good friends with the Prattville family who just lost their son, 23-year old Auburn University student Trenton McLeod.

"It's just a Horrible situation. A family today is without their son, I can't even begin to imagine what they are going through," Dawson said.

Sunday morning around 7:00, McLeod was driving a tractor, blowing off leaves and moisture from greens at the Moore's Mill Golf Club. Police aren't sure why, but McLoud hit an embankment, causing the tractor to tip over. The blower the tractor was pulling, landed on top of him.

"We are still looking into it trying to determine exactly what happened. We spoke with witnesses who just heard a crash and they went to him and saw that he was severely injured," said Dawson.

Moore's Mill Employees are able to free McLoud from under the blower.

They called 911. McLeod was airlifted to Columbus Medical Center, where he died around seven that night. An autopsy will not be performed. Toxicology tests are pending.
