Child dies after minivan swerves off road

QUITMAN COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - Wednesday afternoon, a family minivan swerved off the road - killing a child passenger.

The Quitman County Sheriff's Department says Bobbie Jo Faircloth of Eufaula, AL was driving the minivan along Bonaparte Road in Quitman County around 2:15 p.m.

It's believed Faircloth turned around to stop an argument between her sons who were sitting in the backseats. The vehicle then drifted off the road. When Faircloth tried to maneuver the vehicle back onto the road, it spun out of control and flipped several times.

All four passengers were ejected from the vehicle. We're told the youngest passenger, an 8 year-old boy, died at the scene. Allegedly, none of the passengers were wearing seatbelts.

Faircloth, and three other passengers were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
