COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - News Leader Nine found one father's story that stuck out from the rest this Father's Day.

After 20 years of marriage, Bryan and Sharon Bevley didn't think becoming parents was in their future.

Bryan told News Leader Nine, "Due to medical complications, we weren't able to have children and we had talked about adopting. We were introduced to Bethany Christian Services Adoptions through friends of ours."

With lots of paperwork and even more prayers, they were blessed with an addition to their family.

"They said, we have you a son and we were floored. So we know it was Divine Intervention. We're so grateful," Sharon said.

After the adoption was final, they introduced Devin to their parents and siblings, "When everyone first met him they fell in love with him. He's been great." Sharon added, "It's not like he joined our family, he's been here. It's just like he was away visiting or something, so it's great. The family loves him and he loves them. He's taken to them quite well."

The couple says being first time parents to two year old Devin has had a great impact on their lives. "Having him has changed me in a way. I don't want to say I took life for granted but it really makes things more serious and our priorities are different," said Bryan.

For his very first Father's Day, Sharon has quite the surprise for her husband, "What Bryan doesn't know is I found out yesterday that I'm pregnant. It's going to be the best father's Day for him. So he has a son and a sibling coming. It'll be wonderful."

The Bevley's said they have several nieces and nephews, so they were more than prepared to raise a child. It only took the couple a little more than a year to get the paperwork filed and actually get Devin as a part of their family.
