Man turns self in for shooting man in face

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus Police say they have arrested the man they say shot a man in his face last week.

Wednesday, around 11:00 p.m. 31-year-old Reginald Roberts of Columbus turned himself in. He was booked and charged with aggravated assault for shooting 33-year-old Jeffery Newsome on June 24.

Newsome was shot in the face outside his home on Bell Street (off Henry Avenue).

Roberts was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He appeared in Recorder's Court Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, Newsome remains in the hospital recovering from his injuries.
