RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) - Authorities in Russell County have a Phenix City man behind bars they say is responsible for several major crimes.
Thirty-seven-year-old William James faces three burglary charges and an armed robbery charge in Russell county.
He has also been charged with armed robbery and multiple thefts in Phenix City.
Among the crimes he's charged with, police say James stole a truck and a backhoe and used them to steal an ATM from a Wachovia Bank in Phenix City earlier this month.
Investigators don't think he worked alone over the past few months and now they're looking for at least one other suspect.
"It was a lot of hard work by both agencies. The investigators from the city PD and the Sheriff's Office worked long hours to put this guy away. We still have some out on the streets but we at least have what we believe is the main guy behind bars," said Lieutenant Heath Taylor with the Russell County Sheriff's Department.
James' bond has been set at nearly $300,000.
Lieutenant Taylor says James also has an outstanding warrant against him out of Henry County for manslaughter, stemming from a car accident.
