Crawford Man Charged with Child Abuse

RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -  A  Russell County man is behind bars, charged with aggravated child abuse.

Investigators say 24-year-old Jeremy Williams from Crawford was babysitting a one-year-old child when the baby was seriously injured.

At this point, police aren't releasing how the child may have been abused.

The baby is being treated at an Augusta hospital and is expected to recover.

Police say Williams does not have a history of child abuse.

He pled not guilty Monday.

He is being held in the Russell County Jail $200,000 bond.

He'll have a preliminary hearing in the next few weeks.
