COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Phenix City man is dead after an early Sunday morning shooting in North Columbus and local authorities are looking for suspects.

Police aren't releasing a lot of details about what they are calling a murder, but here's what we do know: at one o'clock Sunday morning Columbus Police got a call for shots fired at the Main Street Apartments off Whittlesey Road, near Columbus Park Crossing.

When they arrived on the scene, they didn't find a body, just a puddle of blood. Not long after that, they located 24 year old Maurice Hollis, of Phenix City, at St. Francis Hospital, where hospital officials say someone dropped him off.

Hollis was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead just a few minutes after 1:00 A.M.

Right now police are still trying to piece together exactly what happened at the Main Street Apartments, that took the life of this young man. If you have any information on this crime, you are asked to call Columbus Police at (706)653-3400.
