Teacher accused of molestation to be arraigned

LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) -  A former LaGrange teacher accused of child molestation went before a Troup County Superior Court judge Friday.

Forty-five-year-old Elizabeth Gaddy has been indicted a second time and is now set to be arraigned August 13, 2009.

She was scheduled to be arraigned in May but instead, her lawyer filed motions for her original indictment to be dismissed.

Gaddy's charges stem from an alleged incident back in 2008 involving one of her former 7th grade students at Callaway Middle School.

Inside the original indictment, it stated Gaddy enticed the 13-year-old to a dirt road beside the teen's home and performed oral sex on him.

Her lawyer says that indictment against her lacked specifics needed for her to make her defense like the definite date and location of the reported offense and the age of the victim.

Gaddy was investigated by the school board last year.

It was prompted by the child's parents, who came forward with information about the alleged incident.

She resigned her position December 19, 2008.

WTVM will continue to follow the case.
