COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - What began as a normal night in the Wilson Apartments in Columbus quickly turned into a nightmare for 19 -year-old Brennan Edwards Wednesday night.

Around 11:30, police say the teen was kidnapped by 29-year-old Leon Hardy and 32-year-old Trenton Clemons.

We're told this alleged kidnapping began over a car break in.

One of the suspects reportedly had some things stolen out of his car and found some information that pointed to Edwards.

Investigators say the two men drove Edwards around at gunpoint for about 30 minutes, threatening him, and shooting near him to scare him.

At one point, police say they made him get in the trunk.

Neighbors heard the shots and called 911. When police got to 7th Avenue and 33rd Street, they spotted a Ford Crown Victoria with the trunk partially opened.

Blue lights engaged, a short chase ensued.

The whole thing ended just a few streets down from where it started in the Wilson Apartments.

Once cops got the car pulled over, the alleged kidnappers bailed out and out came Edwards from the trunk yelling for help.

Leon Hardy was caught and charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, and obstruction of a police officer.

Trenton Clemons managed to get away and police are working to track him down. They say he is 5'11"  200 lbs. and has a tattoo on his right forearm of the word "Chrome" and a one of cards on his left forearm.

As for the victim, police say he was pistol whipped and shot at during the ordeal but made it out alive.

Leon Hardy pled not guilty to his charges in Recorder's Court today.

His case has been bound over to Superior Court.

Trenton Clemons is still on the run, and officers say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on Clemons is asked to call Columbus Police at 706-653-3400.
