Third Brigade Families Get Ready for Deployment

FORT BENNING, GA (WXTX) - After several different tours of duty overseas, Specialist Michael Bradberry is no stranger to leaving for deployments.

"I was born and raised in the military, and I'm used to leaving on short notice. This is what we signed up for," said SPC Bradberry, a Third Brigade Soldier.

For his wife Rebecca Bradberry, though, it's an eye-opening experience.

The newlyweds just had their first child two months ago, and Rebecca will be left on her own when the Third Brigade leaves in two months.

"I am new to all of this, it's my first time with him going away," said Bradberry.

There is hope though, and help, for spouses like Rebecca.

Dozens of community organizations came out to Kelly Hill Tuesday, offering support services that will come in handy for Rebecca during her husband's deployment.

"The unknown is always scary, but the people here want to help families back home while their spouses are deployed. I am amazed at the information, the kindness and the generosity of those helping Third Brigade soldiers.

Fort Benning's MWR, Army Community Services, Family Readiness Groups, and even local school systems were all at Tuesday's deployment fair.

For new husband and father Specialist Bradberry, it makes him feel better to know the post community is taking care of his loved ones while he fights for our country.

"Seeing the support systems makes me feel better, calmer, and more relaxed about my deployment," said SPC Bradberry.
