Hundreds came out to Forrest Road widening meeting

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - On Monday evening, hundreds of residents met with city leaders about a proposal to widen Forrest Road in Columbus.

The city plans to widen a dangerous patch of Forrest Road between Floyd/Woodruff and Schatulga Roads. Click here to go to the Forrest Road Widening website.  Planners say the widening project would include a center lane for left turns and sidewalks on both sides of the road.

City officials say the funding for this project will come from the recent local option sales tax.

If your property is one of those affected, the city will contact you with a registered letter, and come out to your home to talk with you.

The project may require the acquisition of about 200 homes.
