Police seek man accused of shooting 9-year-old

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -  News Leader 9 has learned a 9-year-old Phenix City boy was injured in a drive-by shooting.

Phenix City Police say it happened at the Riverview Apartments near the 1100th building around 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.  We're told the boy was playing outside when one of the bullets struck him in the hip. 

The child has a shatter femur or thigh bone.  He was taken to the Columbus Medical Center and is expected to undergo surgery Friday.

Witnesses on the scene say the child was shot by a black man driving a newer model GMC Yukon -- possibly charcoal gray in color.  The SUV, reportedly had a red paper tag on the display of the rear bumper.
