COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Accused murder, Michael Registe, may need a new attorney after a court hearing Friday.

Special prosecutor Laura Murphree has asked the court to removed defense attorney Stacy Jackson as Registe's counsel because Jackson, a former prosecutor, was involved in the case in early 2008.

Registe is accused of murdering Randy Newton, Jr. and Bryan Kilgore back in 2007.

He fled the country after the slayings, but was captured in August 2008 on the Caribbean Island of St. Maarten.
