COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus Police are working to track down a driver who led one officer on a strange high speed chase.

Around 2 AM Saturday morning, a patrol officer was going down Victory Drive when he noticed a car driving on the median and almost hit another car coming the opposite way.

When the officer hit his blue lights, the driver spun around, slowed down, then sped off and started throwing small plastic baggies out of the window.

Police reports say the baggies held "unknown contents."

The chase continued two miles to Veteran's Parkway but it was broken off when the driver made off into Alabama.

The suspect's car is described as a late model Chevrolet Caprice Classic, no tag.
