Raw tahini recalled for possible salmonella

Press Release

ATLANTA - Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin alerts consumers to the recall of some Artisana Raw Tahini that may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Premier Organics, Berkeley, CA, is recalling 840 cases of Artisana Raw Tahini.  The product has the lot number 90811 and is packaged in 16-ounce glass jars.  It has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious infections.

Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.

This product has been distributed nationwide through retail locations and online stores.  Those who have purchased the product may return it to place of purchase for a full refund.
