Teens arrested following chase, face attempted murder

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -  Phenix City Police say a car full of suspects, who were believed to have been involved in a shooting two days earlier, led them on a chase across town. Two of the teens arrested will face attempted murder charges.

Monday evening around 7:00 p.m., investigators spotted their Buick Century on South Rail Road Street in Phenix City and tried to stop them, but the car did not stop.  The chase lasted several minutes and came to an end in the 1600th block of 12th Street.

Police say when officers approached the vehicle, the Buick accelerated in an attempt to strike the officers. Theofficers opened fire and the driver lost control and crashed into a ravine.

All four of the suspects ran into a wooded area, but two teens were eventually captured and arrested after a four hour search using the K-9 unit. 

Two other suspects are still on the loose. Their descriptions are not available at this time.

Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident, but the officers who fired shots at the car have been place on administrative leave while and investigation proceeds.
