LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - Troup County Sheriff's investigators called,  it bizarre and tragic -- 17-year-old Tory Brown was shot in the head by a AK-47 that was mounted on the wall of Joseph Keeth's home.

"A 17 year-old boy lost his life due to someone being reckless with firearms," says Chief Charles Nixon. The Troup High School student died instantly.

"I have bad days. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him. I see his smile daily. But now he's in a better place with God," says Tiffany Brown, Tory's mother.

For the past year and half, detectives have been investigating the accidental shooting.

Monday morning, 29-year-old Joseph Keeth pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter and possession of cocaine.

Investigators say Keeth had several guns mounted on the wall in his home, all loaded and off safety.

Keeth showed the AK-47 to Brown and several others and put it back on the wall.

"When he put it back on the wall it caused the trigger to rock on the nail and caused the gun to discharge. It did the same thing during the test we did.

The judge sentenced Keeth to four years in prison and 11 years of probation.

Brown's mother says she spoke face to face with Keeth and forgave him. "I have to forgive him, because my heart won't let me be a mean person," says Brown.
