FT. BENNING, GA (WTVM) - Kids at Ft. Benning got to see first hand what it's going to be like for their parents when they deploy with the third brigade. This weekend's "Kids Deployment Camp" helped kids learn about military lingo, go through a basic training course and they even had the chance to learn about the Iraqi culture.

Family support assistant and camp organizer Andrea Young told News Leader Nine, "It allows kids to learn about where mom or dad will be deployed, what activities they will be involved in, get hands-on with the vehicles, the guns they work with and see hands-on what they're doing."

Over the next few months more than 5,000 families will be effected by the third brigade's deployments, so this camp is designed to help those children cope when the time comes for their parents to ship out.
