COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A LaGrange man accused of child molestation takes his life into his own hand.  Troup County Sheriff's Chief Investigator Charles Nixon says they received the complaint Monday morning on 61-year-old Charles Lynaugh.

After a brief investigation, Nixon says a warrant was issued for Lynaugh's arrest.

A family member notified Lynaugh about the warrant and he reportedly threatened to kill himself." Yes they took him seriously.  The family called us and we put a lookout on him Monday afternoon,"  added Nixon.

According to deputies, Lynaugh left his Cooley Road home and returned around four o'clock p.m. picked up his RV, a can of gas and a 38-revolver and left again.  Shortly after, police put in another lookout for Lynaugh.  Thirty minutes later, Lynaugh's car is found.

"The LaGrange Fire Department which is located about a half mile from the location saw smoke coming from a dirt road off Upper Big Springs Road and they found the RV there," says Nixon.  When deputies arrived, Nixon says they found Lynaugh's charred body inside the burned RV.

Lynaugh did not have any previous molestation charges.
