TROUP COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - Rising water levels forces the city of West Point, GA to take emergency precautions.

Officials have cut power to city hall, the police station and the fire station.

The flood plane is dangerously close to a transformer connected to their power supply.

At the moment, city officials and emergency crews are working in trailers, so emergency services have not been interrupted.

The Army Corp of Engineers is increasing the dam release to 52,000 cubic feet per second.  In addition, crews have place sandbags in necessary areas.

That means, more water is headed downstream to Columbus.
