Blue Knights Help Deputy's Family

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Law enforcement officials in Lee County are "keeping it local."

The law enforcement motorcycle club, the Alabama Blue Knights announced today that proceeds from their annual bar-b-q fundraiser will go to the family of Deputy James Anderson.

Anderson was killed in the line of duty a week ago Thursday after being hit by a car during a traffic stop.

The Blue Knights feel it's important to honor him and keep his memory alive.

"There is no greater sense of pride and honor to help the family of a fellow law enforcement officer, who was killed doing their job, protecting citizens of this great area," says Bill Gasaway, the President of The Blue Knights.

Tickets for the Boston Butts are $20.00.  Contact the Phenix City Police Department or the Lee County Sheriff's Department if you are interested.

Donations will be accepted at the Wal-Mart in Phenix City on October 30th and 31st.
