Thieves beat Columbus woman, snatch purse

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  A Columbus woman says she was attacked and robbed Sunday night on Veterans Parkway near 5th Avenue.

The 22-year-old woman told police she was approached by two black males who started punching her with closed fists. She says one of the suspects reached in and snatched her purse from her car.

The victim reportedly dropped her cell phone in the scuffle, pulled over and got out of the car to find it and was attacked again by one of the suspects.

She drove herself to the Saint Francis Emergency Room but reports only indicate she had a busted lip. 

A description of the suspects are unknown at this time. 

Also Sunday night, a 57-year-old man was attacked and robbed outside of the Circle K at 215 4th Street in Columbus.

The victims says one of the suspects, armed with an unknown tool, struck him in the head and robbed him of $41.

He could not describe the alleged attackers but a passerby told police three black women and one black man attacked him.
