COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus man is behind bars facing several charges after a fender bender.

What seemed like a minor Saturday morning car wreck, turns into a robbery, a police search and one man facing drug charges.

Charlotte Lester tells Columbus Police she was driving to the bank Saturday morning when a pick-up truck ran into her rear bumper on Macon Road. She got out to assess the damage, and the truck's passenger stole her purse and drove off.

A Muscogee County Sheriff's deputy later saw the same truck and when they tried to pull it over, police say the passenger took off running.

According to police reports, the suspect, 23 year old Adrian Weaver, entered a gas station near the intersection of Armour and Warm Springs Road to call for a ride. The clerk tells police the activity was suspicious, so he called 911.

When Weaver's friend arrived to pick him up, police stopped and searched their car, finding a pill container with more than 25 pieces of crack cocaine.

Adrian Weaver is scheduled to appear in Recorder's Court Monday morning facing charges of robbery, and possession of cocaine with the intent to sell. Police tell us, he could be facing more charges and more arrests could be made in this case.
