Man held on robbery and drug charges

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) -- Columbus police are holding a man on robbery and drug charges following an incident over the weekend.

Adrian Weaver, 23, pled not guilty in Muscogee County Recorder's Court this morning. He is charged with robbery and possession of cocaine. Weaver was arrested Saturday after reportedly running from police. Officers were searching for him following a bizarre incident on Macon Road.

Charlotte Lester told police she was driving to the bank when a pickup truck rear-ended her car. She says a man jumped out of the bed of the truck and robbed her while she was inspecting the damage.

Weaver was later arrested with more than 25 pieces of crack cocaine in his possession. Weaver is being held in the muscogee county jail with a $15,000 bond. The case has been bond over to superior court.

He will also be back in Recorder's Court tomorrow morning for driving a vehicle with no state driver's licence, insurance or state tag.

At 5 ET. on News Leader Nine, we'll speak with the woman who was robbed.
