Robbery Suspects On The Loose In Woods

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Troup County investigators say four suspects rented a car in Atlanta and headed down Interstate 185.

"They were just stopping breaking into convenient stores," says Chief Charles Nixon.

He tells us, the thieves hit 3 stores within 30 minutes. 2 in Harris County and 1 in Troup County.

"While we ere in route to that call, we go another call that someone had just broken into the another Shell Station off Hamilton Road," he adds.

Detectives say suspects stole cigarettes, lotto tickets, beer and cash, but deputies were on their trail.

"When the deputy arrived she met them coming out and can into them. They took off with the car and the others dashed in the woods, but the car wrecked," adds Chief Nixon.

Deputies arrested 18 year-old Travis Tucker and 34 year-old Demetrius Jenkins.

The other 2 suspects, police say are still on the loose, running in woods somewhere on Interstate 185, possibly headed back to Atlanta.
