COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Just last week the Rite Aid on Macon Road was the target of a late night armed robbery, and Sunday night, the investigation continues into a robbery of a different Rite Aid in Columbus. News Leader Nine learns police think the two cases are related.

Around 11 o'clock Saturday night -- just before the Rite Aid on Double Churches Road closed for the night -- employees say three black men entered the store.

The victims tell police the men were carrying handguns and demanded money. No shots were fired and no one was injured. Once they got the cash, the three men left the store through an exit at the back of the building. The suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The night of October 9th, it was the same story, just at a different location. Employees at the Rite Aid on Macon Road tell police three black men entered the store just before closing time, waved handguns and demanded money. They also got away from the scene of the crime.

Police tell News Leader Nine since the robberies were so similar in nature -- same stores, times and order of events -- they could be related.

Officials also note the suspects seemed to know their way around the stores, since they exited a rear door at the Double Churches location.

If you have any information on these armed robberies, you are asked to call Columbus Police at 706-653-3400.
