Accused Murderer Claims Self Defense

OPELIKA, AL (WXTX) - Thursday, in a Lee County courtroom, a murder suspect took the trial in his defense. Reginald Moffett is accused of killing Demecio Griffin last year.

Moffett testified he feared for his life when he and Griffin got into a fight, that ended when the gun he had went off.

"He was pulling his weapon when he proceeded to hit me in the face I feared for my life," Moffett testified.

A witness for the prosecution who saw the shooting, testified Moffett pulled his gun and fired. She claimed the victim never had time to pull his gun.

Closing arguments were scheduled to start late Thursday afternoon. Fox 54 will continue to updated you on the case.
