Georgia Stimulus Creates Jobs

October 25, 2009

Atlanta, GA - The $787 billion economic stimulus plan has put thousands to work in the state of Georgia.  That's according to a new state report.

The federal stimulus package has resulted in more than 23,000 jobs created or retained since the bill was passed.

18 state agencies have spent $702 million of the $3.2 billion the state has recieved so far.

State officials have cautioned against drawing conclusions from the report...saying only a fraction of the $6.4 billion set aside for Georgia has been used.

The director of Georgia's stimulus accountability says they are on track for spending all the available on projects to put Georgians back to work.
