Woman dies in Opelika 3 car crash

OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - One person is dead, the victim of a three car accident on Marvyn Parkway Wednesday evening in Opelika.

According to police, the driver of a 1998 KIA attempted to pass a 1990 Chevrolet truck while travelling south on the parkway, near Crawford Road.

During the attempted pass, the driver of the KIA clipped the early-model Chevy and spun into the northbound lane. At that point, the KIA was hit by the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet truck.

The KIA was occupied by two individuals.

The Lee County Coroner pronounced the KIA passenger, 26-year-old Sarah Ware of Opelika, dead on scene at 5:35 PM/CST.

The KIA's driver, along with the driver of the 2007 Chevrolet have been transported to the East Alabama Medical Center for treatment.

The names of the deceased will not be released at this time pending notification of the next of kin.

Investigators tell us her body has been sent to the state crime lab for an examination.
