Sex Offenders and Halloween

COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) -  Before you head out doors with your little goblins this Halloween, you might want to check the online sex offender registry.

The Muscogee County Sheriff's Office says sex offenders do not have to post signs on their doors, but they have been strongly asked to not leave their lights on, decorate their homes, or come to the door for trick- or-treaters.

Offenders who are no longer on probation have also been asked to stay in their homes after 6:00 p.m.

Offenders who are not on probation must report to their probation office from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The trick or treating curfew in Columbus is 9:00 p.m. for the little ghouls and goblins.

To view Georgia's sex offender list check out: Users can type in a zip code in the search field to list registered sex offenders.

In Russell County, AL sex offenders do not have to post signs on their doors.  For information on sex offenders in Alabama check out the Alabama Sex Offender List.
