COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Today wraps up Georgia Homelessness Awareness Week.

Some local churches along with the Homeless Resource Network hosted the third annual Banquet on the Bridge. The community pot luck took over the 14th Street pedestrian bridge.

All were invited to participate and contribute to the meal regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, housing or economic status.

Heald said the feast was a time to sit down, share a meal and chat with people you wouldn't normally interact with.

Volunteer, Nathan Heald, said, "the banquet is not the end all, hopefully its a picture of the way the world could look and the way the community could look."
