Fort Benning announces temporary gate closing

FORT BENNING, GA - The Benning Boulevard “Stone Gate” will be closed from 6 p.m. Nov. 21 through 5 a.m. Nov. 23.

The access control point on Benning Boulevard near Custer Road will be open on Nov. 21 for individuals accessing the National Infantry Museum from Fort Benning. The Benning Boulevard access control point will be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 22.

The access control point on South Lumpkin Road will close Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. and will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 22.

The South Lumpkin Road access control point will then close from 5 p.m. Nov. 22 and re-open at 5 a.m. Nov. 23.

All vehicles attempting to access the installation will be stopped and may be searched. Drivers and adult passengers in the vehicle may be asked to present identification.

Drivers of vehicles without military stickers must stop at the visitors’ center on I-185 to get a temporary access pass.
