COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Folks at the RiverMill Event Center are getting an early start on the holiday season.

This is the first ever "Gingerbread Jubilee" where businesses and residents compete for the best gingerbread creation.

The event included arts and crafts, music and a corner for kids to make their own gingerbread houses.

RiverMill Chef and Owner Jamie Keating told News Leader Nine, "We're surprised and happy to see the community come out here and have a good time and just get in the festive season. Hopefully this will kick it off for them."

All the proceeds will go to the Children's Miracle Network and the Columbus Regional Medical Foundation. If you missed out Sunday, the event will continue Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
