AU band director to co-direct band in Macy's parade

LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -  A bit of east Alabama will makes its way to the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

Auburn University Band Director Rick Good is the co-director of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Marching Band.

The band is made up of high school students from across the country.

Yesterday, his team videotaped this year's band practicing for the parade.

Good is in charge of the 75-second performance of 76 trombones that will be nationally televised for an expected viewership of 15 million people.

The band practiced the tune for the first time on Monday and will be up at 2:30 AM Thursday morning going through a practice march, before the real deal.

New Leader 9 will interview Good during News Leader 9 morning on Thanksgiving.

Good shares the directing role with Dr. Jon Woods from Ohio State University.
