Santa Claus to make at stop at Airborne School

Press Release

FORT BENNING, GA – Santa Claus is coming to the Airborne School!

Personnel from the 1st Battalion, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment will welcome Santa Dec. 11 when he joins them to help with the 18th annual 250-foot airborne tower lighting ceremony on Eubanks Field.

The free event is open to the public.

Santa, accompanied by Fort Benning's command exhibition parachute team, the Silver Wings, will perform a jump onto Eubanks Field at approximately 6 p.m.  The Fort Benning Fire Department will then escort Santa to his chair where he will give out gifts and candy before leading the countdown for the tower lighting.

Other activities leading up to Santa's arrival will begin at about 3 p.m., including opening the 34-foot towers for "prospective" airborne students to test their wings.

Several vehicles will be on display to include a Bradley Fighting Vehicle, Stryker, ambulance and fire truck.  The Grace Christian School choir will sing Christmas carols.
