Springer launches Peter Pan Feeds the Valley food drive

Press Release

Theatre offers PETER PAN discount as thanks

COLUMBUS, GA - To help ease the suffering of many local families this December, the Springer Opera House has launched a month-long food drive to benefit Feeding the Valley food bank (formerly known as Second Harvest).

The theatre calls the campaign "Peter Pan Feeds the Valley" and has set up food collection bins in its lobbies for the entire run of the family musical, PETER PAN, which runs through December 23rd.

"We're asking the community to bring non-perishable food items to the Springer Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm," explained Springer director Paul R. Pierce.

To help encourage participation in the food drive, the Springer is offering $5 discounts for all regular tickets to PETER PAN.

"Just bring your food contribution to the Springer and claim your discount to PETER PAN," says Pierce.  "You can even bring it with you on show night."

"So many of our neighbors are suffering from the effects of the recession right now," Pierce said. "And a great number are jobless.  We want to do our part in helping them to feed their families during the holidays."
