Columbus Police investigate burglary at school and stores

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Columbus Police are investigating three burglaries.

The first one occurred at Dawson Elementary located at 180 Northstar Drive around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say a window was broken, causing $1500 worth of damage. It's not known what was taken.

The case remains under investigation.

Then around 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, witnesses say a man wearing a dark jacket with white stripes broke the front window with a cinderblock.

Police reports indicate no arrests have been made.

Then Wednesday around 3:00 a.m. the Rite Aid located at 2300 Wynnton Road was burglarized.

Police say the burglar broke in through the drive-thru window, causing $2000 worth of damage.

Video surveillance shows an unknown person in a light gray hoodie breaking the drive-thru window using an unknown tool.

The store's manager says several items were taken from the store.
