PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Some local organizations are teaming up to make Christmas special for deserving families in the community.

The Russell County Coroner's Office and the Fraternal Order of Police collected toys, food, and other necessities for families in need.

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. told News Leader Nine, "We're giving presents to families. A few gifts, perhaps some gift certificates, toys, clothes and other items they might need for Christmas just to get by. We feel like if we do our part and other people do their part and we all pull together, families in our area can have a good Christmas and enjoy themselves."

The group will deliver the presents to families Wednesday night.
