Thieves steal cigarettes from Columbus businesses

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – For the second time this week, a Midtown Columbus business is burglarized for cigarettes.

Just before 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, police found the front glass door of this Fred's on Auburn Avenue busted in.

Investigators say surveillance video shows the suspect went straight for the cigarette section of the store, and stole an undetermined amount of merchandise. The damage from the burglary cost the store $250.

Also on Tuesday, the Walgreens on Wynnton Road was burglarized and the thieves took cigarettes.
