COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - While some local troops made it home stateside, others will be spending the rest of the holidays overseas.

Troops gathered from all over the country at Hartsfield-Jackson airport in Atlanta to begin their next tour of duty.

Most of them will be going to Iraq and Afghanistan.

About 200 soldiers were given a meal by the USO before departing the day after Christmas.

Many of them are beginning their second or third tours of duty, and belong to all branches of the military.
