24th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Breakfast

COLUMBUS, GA- On Monday January 18th 2010 there will be a Martin Luther King Jr. Unity breakfast at 7:10 am. The program will follow breakfast and start at 7:30am. It will be located at the Columbus Ironworks Convention & Trade Center. The speaker for the event will be Herman "Skip" Mason who is the 33rd General President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. The theme for the event will be "Keeping the Dream Alive Through Education: The Foundation for Life." Ticket prices will be $25.00 Adult ($30.00 at the door), and $15.00 Student ($20.00 at the door).  TicketS can Be found at Two Thousand Opportunities, Inc. they are located at 1170 Brown Avenue and their number is 706-324-7071. The Breakfast yearly recognizes an individual or organization in the Columbus, GA area that has consistently fostered the ideals of unity of people and progress of the community.  Each year we seek to honor the citizens and organizations of our area who have demonstrated adherence to these ideals through words and actions.  Last Year's "Unity Award" recipient was Judge John Allen. The prior five recipients were Frank Brown, Phyllis Jones, Mr. James Blanchard, Congressman Sanford Bishop, and Dan Amos.
