Christmas Tree Recycling

COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) – Bring your old Christmas tree to the Chipper!  You have until January 9th to drop off your tree at the following locations in Columbus:

Britt David Park across from Britt David School
Dinglewood Park across from Red Lobster on 13th Street
Cooper Creek Park on Gentian Boulevard
Columbus Botanical Gardens located at 2603 Weems Road.

These volunteers are working in conjunction with Keep Georgia Beautiful.  The Chipper program involves hundreds of Georgia communities and thousands of volunteers. Since its inception, the program has recycled over 4.8 million Christmas trees.

Columbus organizations will also take part in a Christmas Wrapping Paper project at several locations across the city on Saturday, January 9, 2010.

Organizers will be recycling your wrapping paper, Christmas tree, and cardboard boxes at:

Britt David Park across from Britt David School
Dinglewood Park across from Red Lobster on 13th Street
Cooper Creek Park on Gentian Boulevard
Columbus Botanical Gardens located at 2603 Weems Road.

The purpose of this program is to divert this material way from the landfill and into the recycling system.

Foil Paper
Ribbons
Bows
String
Plastic Wrap
Plastic/Vinyl/PVC Tie Straps
Metal tie straps
