HARRIS COUNTY, GA (WTVM) -  Seventeen-year-old Santrell Sweet from Ellerslie, GA and a senior at Harris County High School was killed in a car accident on her way to basketball practice Thursday morning.

The crash happened just before 11 AM on Highway 208-- a mile from Highway 27 and four miles south of Hamilton.

Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley says the two-car wreck appears to be a head-on collision.

Two people in the other car from Pike County were taken to the Columbus Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation into the crash. A cause has not yet been determined.

Sheriff Jolley says Santrell Sweet would have turned 18 on January 3rd.

In the wake of the accident, Harris County High has canceled the boy's and girl's basketball games on Saturday.
