11-year-old behind bars for aggravated assault

LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) – LaGrange Police tells News Leader 9, an 11-year-old boy is behind bars in Columbus after allegedly trying to attack a woman with a box cutter.

Around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to a home located at 126 Jarboe Street regarding a possible aggravated assault.

Officers say when they arrived at the home, 30-year-old Sherika Patterson told them that the boy had obtained a knife and a stick.  Patterson said the he began to jab the knife and stated "I'm gonna cut your face up". That's when Patterson said she tried to get the knife and the stick from the boy.  In the struggle, the police report indicates that she was punched in the abdomen.

The boy is being held at the Columbus Youth Detention Center in Columbus, GA by the Troup County Juvenile Court and has been charged with aggravated assault.
