PLAINS, GA (WTVM) - There is controversy in Plains, Georgia over a doll of President Barack Obama hanging from a downtown building with a rope around its neck.
The doll was found in front of the iconic sign with president Jimmy Carter's name on Main Street.
Witnesses say a sign hanging with the doll had President Obama's name on it.
A few people saw the effigy before it was taken down.
"It's wrong with what they did to Obama but I'm not shocked by it. It's a nice place to live but some people still out there don't like it," Plains resident Trevor Sims said.
Store owners say this shines a bad light on the home of the 39th President.
Both the Plains Police Department and the Sumter County Sheriff's Office were notified.
The Secret Service is handling the situation.
