COLUMBUS, GA- A commemorative service in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 14 in the Supper Club of the Fort Benning Conference Center.
Roy G. Plummer will be the guest speaker. He will address this year's theme of "Remember! Celebrate! Act! A Day On, Not a Day Off!"
Plummer, a retired Army colonel, is the Muscogee County School District's Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps director of Army instruction. He is also the founder, chief executive officer and senior pastor of Faith Tabernacle Community Church in Columbus.
Plummer served as Fort Benning's chief of chaplains prior to his retirement from the Army.
In addition to the guest speaker, Walter and the Gospel Stairways of Griffin, Ga. will offer songs of praise.
Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
Light refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the ceremony.
