Columbus, GA (WTVM)---A convicted felon has been nabbed by Columbus Police after investigators say he kidnapped a grandmother and child, sending them on a scary ride.
22 year old Marcus Wade pled not guilty in Recorder's Court on Friday to charges of criminal attempt armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, two counts of kidnapping and hijacking a motor vehicle.
Police tell us, Wade forced his way into a 45-year-old Dolly Williamson's car in front of the Family Dollar Store on Farr Road Thursday morning. Holding the victim at gunpoint, Wade then forced Williamson to drive to an ATM to get money out of the bank.
Officers say Williamson was unable to get any cash out and that's when Wade forced her out of her car and drove off with her 3-year-old son in the back seat.
According to police, Wade ditched the car near Leary Avenue off Saint Mary's Road, leaving the child and traveling to a nearby house to hide.
Citizens helped officers track him and he was arrested Thursday afternoon at a home on Murelle Street.
Wade faces a list of charges including criminal attempt armed robbery, two counts of kidnapping, hijacking a motor vehicle, a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
