Officials may close Columbus mail processing center

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - City officials in Columbus say the Postal Service may be closing its processing center in Columbus.

If this happens, the city's mail will be processed in Macon, GA.

The Postal Service is holding a public hearing at the Columbus Public Library on Macon Road from 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Wednesday on the topic. 

While no decisions have been reached, Postal Service managers will give an overview of the reasons for the proposal and its possible outcomes, and will listen to community input and concerns.
