American Legion National Commander to visit Phenix City

Press Release

PHENIX CITY, AL-  On Tuesday, January 19, 2010, Fletcher-McCollister Post 135 of The American Legion will host the visit of the National Commander Clarence Hill.

This is only the second visit of the National Commander to Phenix City since the Post was chartered in 1931. This visit is also unique in that for 2009-10 the Department of Alabama's State Commander Wayne Mitchell and the Department's Veteran of the Year Carson Mitchell are members of Fletcher-McCollister Post 135. Along with the honor of having these distinguished members the Department of Alabama's Chaplain is also serving as Chaplain for The American Legion at the National level.

After the banquet on Tuesday night the National Commander will be picked up on Wednesday morning by The American Legion's Department of Georgia Commander Henry 'Butch' Adams for Commander Hill's official visit to Georgia.
