Volunteer program can prepare your taxes for free

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  A free service that prepares your taxes and keeps none of your return will open shop on Friday, January 15th.

VITA stands for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.

Anyone earning less than $49,000 in 2009 can take advantage of VITA.

For more information, call (706) 324-4366, or visit www.vitainthevalley.com.  You can also use the website to learn about federal tax credits that can reduce that amount of taxes that you owe.
